The Xiaomi 12S Ultra was unveiled in China early last month as one of the world’s first devices powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Soc. The smartphone also featured a 1-inch 50 MP camera with a DSLR-like module, which also gained some recognition. However, the phone didn’t see a global release and was only launched in China, but the company’s CEO, Lei Jun, has now confirmed that things are going to be a little different next time as Xiaomi will be launching its next Ultra series smartphone in the global market.

The confirmation came in response to an Android Central review post. The executive tweeted, “The next iteration of Ultra will be available in our global markets!”
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra features three cameras, with a 50 MP one-inch primary camera that comes with a new Sony IMX989 sensor. This is assisted by a 48 MP ultra-wide lens with a 129-degree field of view and a 48 MP telephoto lens with 120x zoom support.
The phone comes with a 6.73-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 2K screen resolution. It has a maximum brightness of 1500 nits and supports HDR10+ certification.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage. The software is MIUI 13, based on Android 12.
The smartphone includes a 4,860 mAh battery with 67 W of charging, 50 W of wireless fast charging, and 10 W of reverse wireless charging support. The company claims that the device can be half charged in just 15 minutes.
A few weeks back, we reported that Xiaomi’s 12T Pro might soon make its global debut. Tipster Kacper Skrzypek spotted the upcoming pro variant of the series on the Google Play supported devices list, which suggests that the smartphone’s number is 22081212 and it has been codenamed ‘diting’.
As per the tipster, Google Play’s listing suggests that the Xiaomi 12T Pro will launch globally as a rebranded Redmi K50 Ultra, which was unveiled in China on August 11, alongside the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2.
