Xiaomi 12 Pro launch EVENT Highlights: Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at Rs 62,999, Xiaomi Pad 5 at Rs 24,999 – The Indian Express

Xiaomi 12 Pro has launched at the company’s event in Delhi. The flagship phone will go on sale from May 2 at a starting price of Rs 62,999. But the surprise announcement was the Xiaomi OLED Vision. The OLED Vision is, of course, a premium TV from the brand with an ultra-slim design of 4.6mm thickness. OLED screens are typically more expensive and seen from brands such as Sony, LG.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes in 8GB RAM+ 256GB and 12GB RAM+256GB storage. The prices are: Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM option, while the 12GB RAM option will cost Rs 66,999. There’s also Rs 6,000 discount for ICICI Bank cards. Xiaomi is hosting a Mi fan sale on May 1, where users who wish to exchange an older Mi or Redmi Note phone will get further discount if they wish to purchase the new flagship phone.
Xiaomi’s OLED will cost Rs 89,999 with a Rs 6,000 bank discount offer. It goes on sale on May 19. Those who purchase the TV on the first sale date will get three years of warranty free.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Pad 5 is the company’s first tablet in the Indian market in the last seven years. The tablet is packs specifications like a WQHD+ (2.5k resolution) 120Hz display and an 8720mAh battery. The Xiaomi Smart Pen and Smart Keyboard were also launched as well. Xiaomi Pad 5’s 128GB variant will cost Rs 26,999. The 256GB variant will cost Rs 28,999. However, as an introductory price, both options of the tablet will cost Rs 24,999 and Rs 26,999 respectively. But this offer is valid only till May 7.
The Xiaomi Smart TV 5A has also been announced along with the Xiaomi OLED Vision. The new 5A TV series comes with a narrow near-border-less design in three variants: 32-inch, 40 and 43-inches. The 43-inch version will cost Rs 25,999; the 40-inch version at Rs 22,999 and the 32-inch at Rs 15,499.
It comes in 8GB RAM+ 256GB and 12GB RAM+256GB storage. The prices are: Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM option, while the 12GB RAM option will cost Rs 66,999. There’s also Rs 6,000 discount for ICICI Bank cards. There’s also an introductory offer of Rs 4,000 extra off, though it is not clear if this is bundled with the card. 
Yes, the phone continues with the 120W fast charging we’ve seen on other Xiaomi phones such as Xiaomi 11T Pro, Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge. This phone gets to a 100 per cent with the boost charge mode on in just 18 minutes. 
Here’s are some of the other features for the main camera setup. For one, Xiaomi is adding night mode support on all three lenses. It is also adding motion tracking, eye tracking to ensure that the subject remains in focus for photos and videos. 
The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with quad speakers as well. It has two dedicated tweeters and 2 woofers. 
Xiaomi 12 Pro, of course, runs the top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. It has three 50MP cameras at the back. This includes a 50MP wide-angle camera, 50MP portrait, and 50MP ultra-wide. The front camera is 32MP. The battery on the device is 4600 mAh with 120W fast charging. We will have to wait and see how this phone is priced, given the specifications are already known. 
The phone has a velvet matte finish at the back, though this is glass at the back. But the texture is different. It comes with a metal camera island. The phone has curved back and display as well. The Xiaomi 12 Pro comes with Corning Gorilla Victus on the front. It comes in three colours: Black, Mauve and Blue. The phone has a big 6.73-inch 2K display, this is an AMOLED panel with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate.

Xiaomi’s OLED will cost Rs 89,999 with a Rs 6,000 bank discount offer for HDFC Bank card holders. It goes on sale on May 19. Those who purchase the TV on the first sale date will get three years of warranty free. 
It supports MEMC technology as well and a 10-bit display. It will come with IMAX Enhanced certification as well. It also comes with Dolby Vision IQ technology, which is a more advanced version of the regular Dolby Vision to ensure better picture quality. Of course, it also supports HDR 10+. It comes with Xiaomi’s own Vivid Picture engine. It has a 1.8 litre speaker cavity and 8 speaker drivers. The TV supports Dolby Atmos as well for an immersive sound experience. The TV has 30W speakers. It comes with a quad-core A73 chipset, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage to ensure smoother performance. It comes with a host of ports, include HDMI 2.1 port. It has a headphone jack as well. It comes with WiFi 6. The TV has Google Assistant built-in and 2 far-field mics. 

The OLED Vision is, of course, a premium TV from the brand with an ultra-slim design of 4.6mm thickness. It has a bezel-less design on all four side. It has a 97 per cent screen-to-body ratio. It has a metal body as well. An OLED display is typically what Sony, LG offers on their ultra-high-end and premium TVs. An OLED is an Organic Light Emitting Diode display, where the pixels light up on their own and this ensures almost perfect blacks and rich colours. The contrast ratio is 1.5million to 1.  
It looks like Xiaomi plans to bring OLED TVs to India next. 
The 43-inch version will cost Rs 25,999; the 40-inch version at Rs 22,999 and the 32-inch at Rs 15,499. It goes on sale from April 30 on Mi.com, Flipkart and other retail stores. 
Xiaomi Smart TV 5A will come in 32-inch, 40-inch and 43-inches. It sports a bezel-less design. The TV will support both a stand and a wall mount option. It runs Patchwall from Xiaomi. The TVs comes with a new quad-core chipset. While the 40-inch and 43-inch options are full HD, the 32-inch is HD resolution. The full HD options have 24W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTX-S support. The TVs now come with dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0. 
However, Xiaomi is also doing introductory pricing of Rs 24,999 for the 128GB version and Rs 26,999 for the 256GB version. But only valid till May 7. 
Xiaomi Pad 5 is only coming with a WiFi only variant. There’s no LTE option. It comes with 128GB or 256GB storage. Xiaomi is not bringing a 64GB version to the market either. The 128GB variant will cost Rs 26,999. The 256GB variant will cost Rs 28,999. 
The front camera is 8MP and it will support full HD video conferencing for all key apps. It also comes with dual mics as well. The rear camera is 13MP. This comes with an option to take pics and scan documents in the main camera app. 
The Xiaomi Smart Pen and Smart Keyboard will also be made available in India. The Smart Pen connects magnetically with the tablet. It can charge by being placed next to the tablet. It charges fully in just 18 minutes. The pen comes with a replaceable tip. Keep in mind that when you are writing with the pen, it will also support active palm rejection to ensure no ghost touches. The company has also introduced the Smart Keyboard, which can act as a cover for the tablet. 
Xiaomi Pad 5 runs MIUI for Pad, which the company says has been completely redesigned for the larger screen. All of the apps on this have been redesigned for the bigger screen including the pre-loaded system apps. It also comes with a new designed Notes app, which is exclusively for the Pad 5. It will support the Xiaomi Smart Pen as well. The tablet’s UI comes with a dedicated App Dock. There’s also support for gestures similar to the regular version of MIUI 13. The MIUI for Pad also has support for split-screen and floating windows. 
Xiaomi Pad 5 comes with four independent speakers. The tablet comes with Dolby Atmos support and Hi-Res audio certification. This means wired and wireless headphones will support Hi-Res audio on this particular tablet. The tablet supports channel mapping as well meaning it will adjust the audio based on orientiation of tablet. Xiaomi claims this will also ensure a better experience during games such as BGMI, etc. 
The display has an aspect ratio of 16:10, which Xiaomi claims will allow a better viewing experience. The PPI is 275 (pixels per inch). Xiaomi claims the display will ensure better calibration depending on the lighting scenario. And yes, this does come with 120Hz refresh rate as well.  
The Xiaomi 12 Pro will go up against other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 flagships available in India like the OnePlus 10 Pro, Realme GT 2 Pro and iQOO 9 Pro. The phone has three 50MP cameras at the back. It starts at Rs 62,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB version, while the 12GB+256GB version will cost Rs 66,999. Xiaomi is also offering Mi fans, the opportunity to exchange their older Mi Phone or Redmi Note for this device and get up to Rs 20,000 off. Remember, the higher exchange value is only possible if your phone is a newer device in a good working condition. Xiaomi also has bank offers with ICICI Bank with Rs 6,000 discount those who have an ICICI Bank debit or credit card.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Pad 5 will be the brand’s first tablet to hit the Indian market. The device is targeted at those who need a larger screen for creative professions, eLearning and similar use-cases. It will start at Rs 24,999 as an introductory price and Rs 26,999 for the 256GB version.
