Three bookmarking apps to help the online-first reader – Telegraph India

Bookmarking apps are not new but they continue to improve. These are apps that can save articles, Twitter threads, and even entire websites so that you can revisit them. Why would you need to do that? While thumbing through a feed, you keep coming up with great reads but somehow don’t always find the time to enjoy them until the weekend. The latest app on the list is Matter, which does a few things differently from the time-tested entries.
Matter
Available only for iOS devices and the web, Matter – like any other app – automatically lists your stories by the date you saved them. The twist in the app is how it allows you to rearrange stories so that what you want to read first is on the top. You can use filters to surface a list of stories you have already started or to put bite-sized pieces before others. In other words, the queuing function works well. You can reorder stories on a few other apps but it requires poking around in the settings section. There is also the option to import the queue from Pocket or Instapaper.
Instapaper
It started out as a simple web add-on and is now a well oiled app with a clean UI. A free account lets you save an unlimited number of articles, videos, and other content. There is also the option to highlight text in the articles you’ve saved. With a paid version, you can do full-text search for your saved documents, unlimited notes, and text-to-speech.
Pocket
Anybody who likes scanning articles knows about this app that can save stories, articles, news, sports, and videos from anywhere online. The Home screen displays recent saves along with what it terms “Best of the web”. Your articles can be shared via social media or recommend them within the app for others to find. There is the free-to-download option or go premium to enjoy a permanent library of your saves, even if they disappear from the web and get access to premium fonts, besides other features.
