The Brandtech Group (formerly known as You & Mr Jones) has appointed Suzanne Spence as global CEO of its mobile marketing technology company, Mobkoi. Spence was previously global CEO of another of the group’s companies, the people-powered content creation network, Mofilm. Mobkoi founders, Quentin and Guillaume Le Pape are stepping down as co-CEOs and will take on new posts as co-chairs.
Spence joins Mobkoi at a time of record growth. The company had an extraordinary 2021, with net organic revenue up 80% on 2020. The momentum reflects the increasing importance marketers are placing on marketing solutions that are completely independent of third-party cookies. Mobkoi works directly with a selection of publishers to deliver extremely high-quality bespoke creative work, placed with an emphasis on robust brand safety.
Quentin Le Pape says Mobkoi has tripled its staff over the last three years to cope with the increasing demand and is looking to double the business over the next two years. He cited Spence’s “innate entrepreneurial spirit” and successful track record in the US as key assets in accelerating the company’s increasing growth.
Spence says Mobkoi’s model means it is “not struggling to find a way forward” in a post-third-party cookies world. She says, “they’ve already found it and are soaring ahead.”
Prior to Mofilm, Spence was head of brand partnerships at the social storytelling platform Wattpad and prior to that, she spent nearly a decade at Google leading global mobile app publisher product strategy.
During her four-year tenure at Mofilm, latterly as global CEO, Spence Spence led the team that won numerous clients, including DoorDash, Target, Citadel, Amazon, Brighthouse, and Olive Garden, increasing US revenues by nearly 300%. Mobkoi has many of the world’s leading luxury and premium brands among its clients, including Audemars Piguet, BMW Group, Bose, Emirates Airlines, LVMH and Richemont and, as well as driving US growth, Spence will also aim to expand Mobkoi into new categories, such as automotive, financial services and technology.
The Brandtech Group founder and CEO, David Jones acknowledged Mobkoi’s “extremely impressive growth.” He says: “At a time when the industry is grappling with a cookieless future, we’re understandably seeing a huge increase in demand for Mobkoi’s non-intrusive highly creative content. Suzanne has delivered brilliantly for us at Mofilm, and I’m really excited for her and for Mobkoi that she’s taking on this role.”
Mofilm will announce its new CEO imminently. In the meantime, The Brandtech Group partner Emma Cookson will serve as interim CEO – a role she previously fulfilled when the then Mofilm CEO, Rebecca Sykes, (now an associate partner at The Brandtech Group) was on maternity leave.
