The Criminal Intelligence Unit is responsible for the identification of crime trends, series, and patterns for the deployment of resources. The unit also utilizes data analysis and statistics to determine hot spots and provide link analysis and case assistance for investigations. In addition to in-house statistical analysis, Sandy Springs Police also partners with CityProtect for real-time crime analysis information to the public.

The Technology Unit is responsible for overseeing the department-issued technology equipment and applications, including; radios, body worn cameras, in-car cameras, and laptops, and implementing and maintaining software applications as well as managing Crime Scene investigators are responsible for crime scene investigations, including forensic and crime scene recovery and evidence processing.

The Records Unit includes both Records and Permits. Records is responsible for the dissemination of police reports, overseeing the department’s Records Management System (RMS), and completing open records requests. Permits is responsible for permit applications and fingerprints.
Maisha Hammond is the Records Unit Supervisor, she began her career in Law Enforcement with the Gwinnett County Police Department. She held the position of Communications Officer for 911 and Records Clerk in 2015 after relocating from New York City. Maisha joined us at the Sandy Springs Police Department in 2017 and worked in both Records and Permits; before taking the position of Records Supervisor. Before working in Law Enforcement, Maisha was employed by JP Morgan Chase for 12 years.

The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Unit is responsible for maintaining Georgia Crime Information Center records and training.
