Read the interview to discover how CEWIT’s faculty and students are conducting interdisciplinary research and development in wireless and information technology, fostering new enterprise development, addressing the skilled technology worker shortage, and managing technology transfer from lab to marketplace.
Sharma came to Stony Brook University as executive director of CEWIT and a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2003. Before joining Stony Brook, he was senior vice president at Symbol Technologies from 1995 to 2003, overseeing various divisions of the company including Worldwide Operations, Mobile Computing and Wireless Engineering, and Quality and Process Improvements. Sharma also led Lucent and Symbol to win the Shingo Prize in 1992 and 2003, respectively.
