5 Mobile Apps That Ruin Your Sleep Quality If Used Right Before Going To Bed – India Times

If you use your smartphone device right before going to bed, you should know that it’s not only unhealthy but also affects the quality of your sleep. Now, researchers claim to have figured out which apps are the worst to use immediately before going to sleep at night.
While TikTok may be the preferred social media app around the globe, its ban in India has kept users glued to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp among many.
A new report by Sleep Junkie assessed which apps cause the most damage to good sleep if used right before going to bed. The survey took into account 2012 Americans. 78% of responders claimed to be guilty of “revenge sleep procrastination” – a common phenomenon whereby people with busy day schedules stay up late in the night to make up for lost time.
Turns out, TikTok is the worst app for your sleep (lucky us!). Users of TikTok spend only 14% of their sleep cycle in the REM (rapid eye movement) state, half of what’s ideal for a good night’s sleep.
Besides TikTok, apps like Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter also have a considerable impact on your sleep. Check out the list below.

Facebook: If you spend on Facebook, you probably take 45 minutes on average to fall asleep. Facebook users also spend 19.5% of their sleep cycle in REM state. Other apps on the list include Pinterest, YouTube, WhatsApp, Reddit, Tumblr, and so on.
The biggest factor in disrupting a healthy sleep cycle is the blue light emitted from the smartphones which is responsible for keeping us alert, delaying sleep considerably.
